Born in winter, born to freeze

Fotor1111220950YHI learned something about myself today. I love those days.

We have had one heck of a weekend, because It was a dark and stormy night. And I mean the negative way. Beachless, sunless and fresh airless, we have hardly left the apartment, because It was a dark and stormy night.

But today, Monday morning, I’d had enough. If the weather was going to act like Europe… I was going to act like Europe. Come hell or high water.

So I got out my skinny jeans. I got out my favorite grey top (non-tshirt, non $5 H&M). I put in ear rings. I got out socks and my grey canvas shoes.  Then I went to the mirror and I saw that it was good. I hadn’t seen that girl for a while.

Bad weather always looks worse through a window. I don’t think that’s true, but it was very true today. It was simply heavenly the way the chilly air made the blood rush to my cheeks and a chill to run down my spine and how the wind was so strong that it felt like we were being lightly pushed all the way to school. It was like breathing in fresh air for the first time in months.

Around campus others had decided to change their outfit for the weather. I saw a few heavy sweaters over shorts and flip-flops and people huddling together with their homework under the palm trees. “Why the long faces?” I wanted to ask. It was almost comical how miserable some people looked when I felt like Dorothy back in Kansas. I felt at home. … It felt great to be back in my jeans too – and I must add, I couldn’t help but notice the improved amount of approving glances I got for it.

I’m not complaining about my whereabouts and being a brat… but boy what a treat it was to curl up under a blanket on the couch tonight! Because I was cold!

Fun fact. Today it was 25ºC
